I cannot think of an environment in which this camo scheme would blend in more than stand out. Anyone??

A Daring Adventure...Or Nothing At All

Helen Keller got it when she said that life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all. She knew that security and safety are mere superstitions, and that they do not exist for the children of man. This is something I've done a lot of thinking about in the past 8 months since Tyler died. And since Nate left for Iraq, this notion of safety has been at the forefront of my mind in every moment. Ty's death could have made me afraid to live for fear that I would die (or afraid to allow those I love to live for fear of losing them). But what is the point of that? It could have made me live in constant anxiety for my soul mate who is spending a year in a war zone. It could have made me decide to be more careful, more timid, less inclined to take on adventures (not that being careful is a bad idea necessarily). But none of these things: being more careful, timid, afraid, anxious, stressed, worried or even planning better - none of these things will ever make me safer. None of them give me more control over Nate's safety. And none of them bring me closer to living a life that is a daring adventure. Thanks to my family for understanding and sharing this idea of life as a daring adventure, and to Nate for spurring me on to do the things that I fear the most. And thanks to you all for your constant prayers that hold me up daily!

My blog has been pretty BORING lately, partly because I really don't want to write about how much I miss Nate all the time, which is what I'm thinking a lot of the time, and partly because I know that what everyone really wants to know is this: What is Nate doing? How is Nate doing? Where is he? etc...etc...etc. (Shaggs??? Funny???) (Sorry, inside joke). But seriously. I really want to share what he's up to over there, but just don't know all that much because he can't tell me that much. And when he does tell me something, the details of that something somehow manage to leave me almost immediately. So, I ran across this blog. The entire blog is interesting, but this post is why we're discussing someone else's blog: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/06/peshmerga-women-steal-show-at-iraqi.html Nate was at this PIC that the blogger is discussing. In fact, if I look closely, I think I see him in one of those pictures. Look closely...again.... Ok, so he's not in any of the pictures, but HE WAS THERE!!! I don't know why I think that is so cool, but I do. These PIC ceremonies - these are what Nate's office does. Not the pomp and circumstance part, but the making sure the government is ready for a new province, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember that relates to making sure the government is ready for a new province part. Just thought I'd share.
